Choosing the Right Olympiad Exam for Your Child's Age
Posted on August 5, 2024
So, you've decided that an Olympiad exam could be a great experience for your child. The next step is choosing the right one! NTC offers three different Olympiads, and the best choice often depends on your child's age and interests. This guide will help you pick the most suitable competitive exam for your kid.
For the Youngest Learners (Classes 1-2)
At this age, the focus should be on fun and building a positive association with learning. The questions in the NLMO (Math), NLSO (Science/EVS), and AITSE (General Talent) are designed to be colorful, engaging, and puzzle-like. You can't go wrong with any of them! The best approach is to ask your child which subject sounds most exciting to them.
For Lower Primary (Classes 3-5)
By this age, children often start showing a stronger inclination towards certain subjects. If your child loves numbers and solving math puzzles, the NLMO is a perfect fit. If they are curious about nature, animals, and how things work, the NLSO is an excellent choice. The AITSE is a great all-rounder option that tests a mix of subjects, including logical reasoning, which is a fantastic skill to develop.
Matching the exam to your child's passion is the key to making the Olympiad journey a joyful and motivating one.
For Middle Schoolers (Classes 6 and above)
As students get older, they can start thinking about their future interests. The subject-specific Olympiads (NLMO for math, NLSO for science) provide a deeper challenge and are great preparation for future competitive exams. The AITSE continues to be a superb choice for developing all-round aptitude and critical thinking skills that are valuable in any field.
